ALESSANDRO MORESCHI The Last Castrato
PAGINA ANTERIOARA
The castrato Alessandro Moreschi , "The Angel of Rome", was the last important representative of a guild that belonged in the era of singer deification; a species of singer that fascinated audiences for two whole centuries and was quite capable of sending listeners into raptures. He has left behind unique recordings, documents of a dying art - his was the only castrato singing that was ever recorded. This outstanding vocal artist is to be heard performing religious arias by Palestrina, Bach, Mozart and Rossini, among others.
